Star Trek: Reemergence is a fan novel written by Hugo Calvin that takes place in the early 25th century, long after the Dominion War and the destruction of Romulus. It is based on a personal interpretation that both events took a very serious toll on all of the major powers in the Alpha Quadrant, and the each is only beginning to recover.
Thirty-years have passed since the end of the Dominion War. As each major power in the Alpha Quadrant bide their time to recover from the devastation that the war has left them in, the Federation soon becomes ready to commission a new experimental ship and crew to take on the challenges of the 25th century. Commanding the new Aegis-class starship, the Dragonfly, is Captain Darren Seth, a young, ambitious human male and graduate of Red Squad. Armed with a unique crew and dizzying new technologies, the captain and his crew are called on their first mission to Draloos IV, a planet in the outskirts of Federation space with a human populous. The populous has reported a sudden halt in its biomatter harvest from its neighboring planet, Draloos V. The crew discovers a troubling new non-humanoid species of high intelligence and cunning on Draloos V, and discovers that the human populous has been robbing the planet of its resources and inadvertently harming the aliens in the process. The crew must make a dreadful choice to try and combat the angered species, or force the starvation on an already desperate human population.
