- On Earth, cryostasis, following the directive of "freeze you now, heal you later", had become very popular and a cryonics satellite was launched into Earth orbit. Among its occupants were Claire Raymond, Ralph Offenhouse and L. Q. "Sonny" Clemonds. The satellite eventually drifted out of orbit and reached the vicinity of the Kazis binary system by 2364, where it was intercepted by the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG: "The Neutral Zone")
- An officer from Starfleet Tactical and one from USS Challenger (NCC-1676) travel back in time from 2291 to 1994 (via the Guardian of Forever) and spend several months' subjective time aiding elements of the Southeast Asian resistance forces against Khan Noonien Singh.
