- The Four Years War between the Klingon Empire and United Federation of Planets begins with the attack on the Archanis system by the Klingons. For twelve hours, disruptor fire from their orbiting D6-class battle cruisers does not stop. Thousands are killed, many more wounded or missing. For the next two years, system after system falls to the unrelenting advance of the Imperial Klingon Navy. The tide of the war turns in favor of the Federation with the introduction of the Ares-class battle cruiser. The war ends in 2245 with the defeat of the Klingons at Axanar. (Axanar: Prelude to Axanar)
