- Rear Admiral Nikolai Barstow is one of the strategists designing the simulation Operation Armageddon, which posits a general war between the United Federation of Planets and several hostile powers, including the Klingons and the Romulans. Among the other strategists contributing to the simulation is James T. Kirk. (Star Trek: Shadowstar Station: Operation Armageddon)
- Kirk’s involvement in it derived from FASA RPG; it seems plausible that one can consider some of the events chronicled in various Star Fleet Battles modules to be derived from this simulation
