The Artemis attempts to return to Federation territory but its warp coils were sabotaged, allowing a sneak-attack by a then-unknown assailant, killing nearly 80% of the Artemis crew. John Greene, Anne Lansing and Daniel Radke are amongst the survivors, escaping in escape pods. As they flee, it appears the Artemis explodes.
