The Abbé-class PT destroyer was a type of Federation starship on active duty from the late 23rd century to the last quarter of the 24th century. They were first commissioned in 2273.
Abbé-class starships had a normal crew complement of 401.
The class featured a so-called "photon hull" with eight tubes that were able to deploy a barrage of photon torpedoes or probes, depending on mission requirements. Their maximum velocity was warp factor 9.1 and, in addition to the torpedo bays, had 12 phaser emplacements. (Jackill's Starfleet Reference Manual: Ships of the Fleet, vol. 1 [revised])
In 2297, ships of this class had FSS-type deflector shields, but those Abbés that remained in service as late as the 2380s had FNSR-type shields. The number of embarked vessels remained constant at seven shuttlecraft throughout various refits. (Starship Tactical Combat Simulator: Abbé-Class XI Torpedo Destroyer)
By the first decade of the 24th century, some Abbés were upgraded to Krakatoa-class fleet tender specifications. (Krakatoa Class Starships Facebook group)
