Africa is one of the seven traditional continents on Earth.

The African Confederation was an association of nation-states in Africa.

As yet, no date has been revealed re the Confederation's founding.

The Mediterranean Alliance built a dam across the Strait of Gibraltar in the 21st century, transforming the coastlines of both southern Europe and northern Africa. (TOS novel: Star Trek: The Motion Picture)

Sometime late in the century, a group of light-skinned Africans left Earth to form the extrasolar colony of New Azania. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Belonging")

By the mid-22nd century, a project called Green Sahara existed to transform the deserts of northern Africa to arable land. (ENT novel: The Romulan War: To Brave the Storm)

During the Earth-Romulan War, one of the two Earth cities hit with Romulan nuclear weapons was in Africa. (To Brave the Storm)

24th century[edit | edit source]

Senegal is one of the nation-states in Africa. Marie Bourget was born in Dakar in Senegal in 2322. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions)

South Africa is another nation-state. Alexandra de Groot was born in Pretoria in South Africa in 2327. (Star Trek: Shabonee) Another native of Pretoria, at least per his Starfleet Intelligence records, was Luther Sloan, an operative of Section 31. (The Lost Era novel: Catalyst of Sorrows)

By the 2330s, the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu -- once a fragmented city in the 20th and 21st centuries -- was a major metropolis in the African Confederation. Geordi La Forge attended Zefram Cochrane High School in or near Mogadishu, and spent much of his youth in the city. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)

By the third quarter of the century, the longest maglev route on Earth was along the Atlantic Coast of Africa, from Casablanca to Cape Town. (Last Unicorn Games RPG: The Cadet's Guide to Sector 001 Earth)
