History[]
Medical School and Starfleet Entrance[]
Akeras Pela attended the University of Bolarus IX School of Medicine on Bolarus IX.
Once she graduated, she had a civilian practice for several years.
For reasons unknown, in 2369, she decided to join Starfleet and was given the honorary rank of lieutenant.
Aboard the Starship Cantabrian[]
Pela joined the medical team aboard the Cantabrian in 2369 and was on the ship for only a few weeks before it was crippled by a subspace weapon. Pela remained aboard and, by 2372, she was promoted to second medical officer, reporting to chief medical officer Dr. Marie Bourget.
She was on good terms with med tech Nelson, visiting him on duty in the Cantabrian's morgue before his death in 2372. (Star Trek: The Cantabrian Expeditions: "Catalyst, Part One")
Excerpt from Captain's Report[]
Profile by Captain Noel Turner. Stardate 49447.8
Dr. Pela joined the Cantabrian medical team as a junior medical officer a few months prior to the ship's refit. During this time, she demonstrated, on more than one occasion, her advanced talents in healing and medicine.
Dr. Pela's Starfleet career remains in its early years; her assignment aboard the Cantabrian is her first. After spending several years in civilian practice, she decided to join Starfleet and holds the honorary rank of lieutenant. She has had no problem integrating with commissioned and non-commissioned officers alike.
I am promoting Dr. Pela to second medical officer of the Cantabrian once we relaunch within the next few days.
