Alareh was a half-Trill, half-Orion dancer at a cabaret on Rigel II. In 2381, she had a brief romance with Starfleet Cadet Jeff Sinclair. To Alareh, it was merely a flirtatious fling, but she broke Jeff's heart when she rebuffed him after a few weeks. Unknown to Sinclair, Alareh became pregnant. Later that year, she bore a son, Varen. She died in 2384, at which time Varen went to live with his father. (PDN: "Sometimes It Comes In the Clouds") It was later revealed that Alareh had planned to abort her child, but a "suggestion" from Darrum stopped her from doing so.
