Alex Michael Patrick Matthews is a native of Bedfordshire, England, now living in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and a life-long Star Trek fan.

Star Trek[]

Matthews discovered Star Trek through the airing of The Next Generation on Sky One, and then later repeats of both TNG and the Original Series on the UK terrestrial channel, BBC Two.

Writing[]

An avid writer from an early age, Matthews started writing fan fiction in middle school and never really stopped. He has created dozens of ships and crews over the years, but they have been lost to time. His first attempt at writing and publishing fan fiction on the web was called "Star Trek: Courageous" and set on a Galaxy-class starship during the early days of the Dominion War. It shared the same 'fan universe' as Charles Rando's "Star Trek: Infinity" and BJ Babcock's "Star Trek: Specter". Like many fan fictions of its time, it also featured a 'Mary Sue', a character named and modeled after its writer, in this case, the ship's counselor.

Sadly, although planned out in detail to at least a 4th season, "Courageous" never made it past its 4th episode, and eventually, its two 'sister shows' also faded into obscurity.

Eventually, after discovering the world of 'virtual series', he developed a new crew, ship and situation, and named the ship and series Star Trek: Courageous after his first major work, which now 'airs' on his weebly site, OrbingMaster Stories.

Acting in Fan Films[]

In 2006, Matthews discovered the world of fan-films, specifically Star Trek: Hidden Frontier and Star Trek: Intrepid. He eventually became involved in Intrepid, taking over the role of Lt. Keran Azhan from its previous actor, Christopher Clarkson. He also played a Romulan bartender in Star Trek: Operation Beta Shield.

Audio[]

His work in the fan-film side of fandom lead him to fan-made audio dramas, such as The Section 31 Files and Star Trek: Outpost. He proceeded to create and develop Star Trek: Diplomatic Relations, an audio series set in the shared HF/Intrepid universe, although the series is mostly stand-alone. He reprises his role of Azhan in several episodes, and also plays the role of Lt, jg, Greylan Viix, the Flight Control Officer on the USS Cole in Star Trek: Henglaar, M.D.

Other Projects[]

Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit[]

A spin-off of Smallville that is another 'virtual script' series that deals with the workings of the Special Crime Unit as they investigate crimes of all natures, cases no other department of precinct will take on. The series, currently on extended hiatus during its second 'season', airs episodes on OrbingMaster Stories and theVPN, a dedicated site focusing on several original and spin-off-based 'series'.

Raven: Destiny Rising[]

Another spin-off, this one focusing on the so-called VPNDCU character of Rachel Roth, a.k.a. 'Raven', set alongside the M:SCU series.
