Margaret Alexander (later Margaret Sinclair-Alexander) was a Starfleet line and flag officer on active duty in the late 23rd and early 24th centuries.
- While her name was not mentioned on screen in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, her surname is noted in the novelization. Orion Press refers to her as Captain Sherrie Shoop and says she was appointed as captain of Saratoga in 2282. (Orion Press: Old Feuds)
As a lieutenant, Alexander was posted to the USS Enterprise during the first year of James T. Kirk's command, after which she transferred to the Firenze. (TOS novel: The Star to Every Wandering)
In the 2280s, Captain Alexander was the commanding officer of USS Saratoga when it encountered an alien probe en route to the Sol system. Despite several hails, there was no response from the probe, except for the drainage of Saratoga's primary power systems. The ship was forced to fall back to reserve power. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
Later in the decade, she married Cynthia Sinclair and changed her surname to Sinclair-Alexander. (Star Trek: Excelsior novel: Forged in Fire)
Early in the 24th century, Sinclair-Alexander was appointed Commander, Starfleet.
