All's Fair in Love and War

"All's Fair in Love and War" is a Star Trek Online fanfic by StarSword, part of the Bait and Switch 'verse. It was written for Unofficial Literary Challenge 26: "Love and Loss" on the Arc Forums.

Attending a terrorism conference on Deep Space 9, Captain Kanril Eleya is introduced to her new father-in-law, Colonel Reshek Tano.

Summary

Epigraph: "In Your Room" by Halestorm

Eleya is on her way to a panel on improvised explosive devices where she is scheduled to be a panelist when she's stopped by her operations officer and now-husband Lieutenant Commander Reshek Gaarra, who introduces his father Reshek Tano to her. They agree to have dinner at Quark's later.

After the panel, they arrive at Quark's. Eleya's reputation from the conflict in the Hromi Cluster and her actions during the Battle of Lae'nas III defuse a confrontation with the Klingon Gurek, and they enter and sit down with Colonel Reshek. They briefly discuss the topic of the conference but stop at Eleya's request, then the Bajoran World Series game comes on. Eleya starts rooting for the Warriors, mildly irritating the colonel, who makes a comment about not wanting his grandchildren being raised to root for the Warriors.
