Amarcan class

The Amarcan class was a type of warbird fielded by the Romulan Star Empire's Grand Fleet in the mid-24th century.

The Amarcan class was the direct predecessor of the famed D'deridex-class warbird of the 2360s and 2370s, and likewise featured a double-hull design. It was twenty percent larger than previous warbird classes and had more graceful lines than the Klingon-designed K't'inga-class battlecruisers still in use by the Grand Fleet at that time. They were estimated to have three times the combat capabilities of Federation Constellation-class heavy cruisers. (ST novel: Vulcan's Heart)

The Mysterious Case of Neelix's Lungs

In 2351, Velal tr'Hrienteh deployed a pair of Amarcan-class warbirds, IRW Haakona and IRW Rea's Helm, under the command of Satali t'Tyrava, to reinforce the IRW Talvath after its commanding officer Telek R'mor received a transmission from what he believed to be a cloaked Federation starship near his location. This was in fact USS Voyager, transmitting through a wormhole from a point in the Delta Quadrant, twenty years in the future. ("Eye of the Needle")

In 2371, Alina t'Aimne compared the Vidiian starship the Vetar was pursuing to an Amarcan-class warbird in terms of firepower. When this proved confusing to Aman Evek she suggested a Steamrunner-class heavy frigate as a more current comparison. ("The Mysterious Case of Neelix's Lungs")
