Andros Azurian was a Federation Starfleet officer on duty in the 24th century. He was assigned to the USS Terra Nova during the Dominion War. (Chronicle: "Unanswered Questions", "To Strive, To Seek, To Find"; David-Zahir DeviantArt)
In 2373, the Terra Nova was attacked and its senior staff killed. The warp core needed to be ejected, and one nacelle was destroyed. Lieutenant Azurian assumed command, ordered officers and crew to escape pods, and attempted to arm the ship's auto-destruct system. The system malfunctioned, so Azurian ordered officers to place scuttle charges to destroy Terra Nova so she would not fall into enemy hands. One ensign, later killed, was unable to do so.
After the war, Azurian was court-martialled, and found guilty of dereliction of duty for not setting the charges himself. Many members of his home colony, Omega Capricornii IX, felt he had been railroaded out of Starfleet, while many Starfleet officers -- especially those of Andorian descent -- felt he got off easy.
