The Apollo class was a type of Federation starship that saw service during the 24th century. The class was in service from at least the 2320s to the 2370s. (TNG: "Tapestry"; DS9: "In the Pale Moonlight")
Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 1: The Ships of Starfleet[]
The Apollo class has an unusual appearance for a Starfleet vessel as it was designed by Vulcan engineers. The aft of the vessel is surrounded by a trapezoid section that contains the vessel's warp nacelles. It is the lightest of Starfleet's light cruisers and its primary role is to transport personnel through dangerous areas of space. While not heavily armed to fight off attackers it is fast and maneuverable, which allows it to outrun any attacker it cannot handle. (LUG RPG: Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 1: The Ships of Starfleet)
Star Trek: Legacy[]
The Apollo class design was similar to the Saladin class, comprising of a saucer section with a lone nacelle connected to the bottom of the saucer. It served primarily as a scout during the 23rd century. The design was later refitted with a second nacelle added to the dorsal side of the saucer, above the original nacelle. (Star Trek video game: Star Trek: Legacy)
Background information[]
- The Apollo class has not been seen and identified on screen in any Star Trek series or movies.
- The specifications in the sidebar are from the Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 1: The Ships of Starfleet. This in turn is based on the Star Trek Encyclopedia identifying the T'Pau as a vessel of the Apollo class.
