Arak Esplin was a female Saurian active in the Federation Starfleet in the early 25th century.
Esplin graduated from Starfleet Academy in 2409 with a commission as an ensign and was assigned to USS Bajor as communications officer. She had her first time in combat late that year when Bajor responded to a distress signal from the freighter SS Shargrash. (Bait and Switch: Bait and Switch)
- Esplin is present in most Bait and Switch stories but rarely does anything besides operate the communications systems.
In 2410, due to her reptilian biology allowing her to see ultraviolet light, Esplin was the first to realize that the Undine warships threatening Bajor during the Schrodinger's Butterfly misadventure were of a different tribe than those that had been attacking the Beta Quadrant nations.
