The Baikonur Cosmodrome was a civilian and United Earth (and later, Federation) shipyard located in the USSR, Earth. By the early 22nd century, the Cosmodrome maintained both planet-based and orbital shipbuilding facilities. (TNG: "The Naked Now", "Up the Long Ladder"; Template:DAE)
One of the first vessels to be launched from the Cosmodrome's orbital facilities was the SS Mariposa, which was launched on November 27th, 2123. (TNG: "Up the Long Ladder")
By the mid-2150s, the Cosmodrome was granted the contract to construct vessels for Starfleet, including the first NX-class vessel not to be constructed at the San Francisco Fleet Yards, the Buran (NX-07).
