The Baikonur Cosmodrome was a civilian and United Earth (and later, Federation) shipyard located in the USSR, Earth. By the early 22nd century, the Cosmodrome maintained both planet-based and orbital shipbuilding facilities. (TNG: "The Naked Now", "Up the Long Ladder")

At least one account asserts that a parallel effort to develop warp drive took place in the Eastern Coalition during the 2050s and 60s. A successful launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome occurred in January, 2063 -- three months before Zefram Cochrane's -- but remained unknown to the world outside the Coalition. (Advanced Starship Design Bureau: Journal of Applied Treknology: "Molniya Class")

One of the first vessels to be launched from the Cosmodrome's orbital facilities was the SS Mariposa, which was launched on November 27th, 2123. (TNG: "Up the Long Ladder")

The Cosmodrome still maintained the contract with Starfleet in the early 2360s when the SS Tsiolkovsky was built and launched from the yards on stardate 40291. (TNG: "The Naked Now")

The Cosmodrome built the USS Ravana circa 2415. (Star Trek: False Vacuum: "Asteroid Dusting")
