The Battle of Gamma Hydra was an important battle of the Earth-Romulan War, where the actions of Admiral William Larson proved crucial. (FASA RPG: Federation Ship Recognition Manual)
- The star Gamma Hydrae is 133.7 light-years from Earth.
Admiral Larson was forced to leave behind two Achilles-class cruisers, the UESS Kerry and the UESS Kirov, along with their combined 200 officers and crew. This was in order to consolidate dilithium for the remaining three Achilles-class cruisers and the two NX-class explorers. A rescue team of two ships is unable to locate the ships or their crews several months later.
This battle took place in 2160. (Delta Dynamics: Star Fleet Starship Recognition Manual: Report: Durance Transports)
USS Cheyenne Operations Manual[]
In this continuity, there were at least three battles of Gamma Hydra during this conflict. Captain Nathan Littlejohn, commanding officer of the USS Essex, distinguished himself at the Third Battle. Nearly 200 years later, one of the Cheyennes would be named after him.
