Berthold implant

The Berthold implant was a mobile device designed in 2349 to deliver a low concentration of Berthold radiation to an individual. (Star Trek Crusader)

In 2343, Lenora Yates was infect with Omicron spores. The spores were produced from a flowering plant on Omicron Ceti III. The spore not only affected her, but her unborn fetus, where they became genetically linked with the foetus. Vanessa Lucifel was born with the genetic alteration that required a steady does of Berthold radiation or her tissue would break down on a molecular level. She was eventually fitted with the implant.
