Brigadier colonel is a post that may be held by senior colonels in the Federation Starfighter Corps. A brigadier colonel retains the rank of colonel, but has responsibilities that cover more than one brigade. However, the United State Marine Corps did not have this rank in the 16th through the 21st centuries.
Fleet captain and force colonel were the equivalent positions in the Federation Starfleet and the Federation Starfighter Corps, respectively. (Star Trek: Remington)
