Summary

While pursuing the Maquis raider Val Jean through the Badlands, the CDS Vetar under Gul Aman Evek is abducted by an entity living in a space station in the Delta Quadrant.

One week later, the Federation Starship Voyager, in search of a Starfleet Intelligence operative aboard the Val Jean, is taken by the same entity. A third of the crew is killed, including Captain Kathryn Janeway, and conn officer Veronica Stadi is forced to assume command despite severe injuries.

Captain Stadi allies with Evek and together the two ships fight off a determined Kazon attack, then set a course for home.
