Celes Tal was a female Bajoran enlisted crew member on active service with Starfleet. In 2371 she was assigned to USS Voyager. (The Mysterious Case of Neelix's Lungs)
Biography[]
In May 2371 (around stardate 48315.6) Celes held the grade of crewman, but was added to Voyager's bridge crew to fill the role of sensor officer after the former occupant was killed in the transit to the Delta Quadrant. (The Mysterious Case of Neelix's Lungs: "Caretaker")
Celes manned Voyager's sensors during subsequent encounters with the Ha'ni, Kazon-Relora, and Vidiians. (The Mysterious Case of Neelix's Lungs: "Lizard-Women from Another Dimension!", "The Mysterious Case of Neelix's Lungs")
On stardate 48588.94 (4 June), Celes, along with Glinn Alina t'Aimne from Voyager's companion CDS Vetar, detected a wormhole leading back to the Alpha Quadrant, but it turned out to be not only too small for either ship to use, but to lead 20 years into the past. (The Mysterious Case of Neelix's Lungs: "Eye of the Needle")
When Voyager and Vetar arrived in orbit of Sikaris for rest and resupply on stardate 48642.5 (25 June), Celes intended to go hiking. However, she was deeply offended when Dalin Hogue Marritza of Vetar asked her on a date and lashed out at him. Captain Veronica Stadi noted that under normal circumstances, Celes would likely have been charged with assault and battery of an officer, dishonorably discharged, and imprisoned for three years. However, given the lack of access to the Judge Advocate General Stadi resorted to non-judicial punishment and demoted Celes to crewman apprentice, revoked her replicator and holodeck privileges for six months, and confined her to quarters off-duty. Celes and Marritza later apologized to each other under orders from their respective commanding officers. (The Mysterious Case of Neelix's Lungs: "Factoring Primes")
