Centauri Beta (more commonly referred to as Beta Centauri or Hadar) was a trinary star system.
- According to Wikipedia, Beta Centauri is 390 light-years from Earth.
In the 22nd century, Centauri Beta VII was the site of an Earth colony that had to be abandoned. The obstacles to a permanent colony were the high radon gas content as well as virulent, drug-resistant bacterial life forms that led to gangrene.
