Charles Anthony Tucker III, known affectionately as Trip, was an officer in the Earth Starfleet during the mid-22nd century. As a Commander in the 2150s, he held the position of chief engineer aboard Earth's first warp five-capable starship, Enterprise (NX-01). For several months in 2154, he served a brief stint in that capacity aboard the Columbia (NX-02). He was reported killed in 2161. (ENT: "Broken Bow", "Affliction", "These Are the Voyages...", et. al)

In files known only to Section 31, it was revealed that Tucker had not been killed in that instance in 2161, and instead was recruited by the rogue spy agency to infiltrate the Romulan Star Empire. His mission was to sabotage research into developing a faster warp drive. He assumed several Romulan identities during this time mission, as well as that of the Vulcan Sodok. After his undercover assignment, he took the name Michael Kenmore and retired to Vulcan to live out his days with T'Pol. He survived at least until 2238. (Star Trek: Phoenix-X: "These Aren't the Voyages...", ENT novel: The Good That Men Do, To Brave the Storm, Beneath the Raptor's Wing, Last Full Measure)

The true details of Tucker's survival and activities during the Earth-Romulan War were declassified in the early 25th century. Nog gave the details to Jake Sisko, with the intent of having him write about Tucker's heroism. (ENT novel: The Good That Men Do)

Alternate timelines[]

In an alternate timeline Tucker took command of Enterprise from Captain T'Pol in 2156. In 2165 Enterprise was destroyed in battle with Xindi warships and the timeline was restored by Captain Archer. (ENT: "Twilight")

In a different alternate timeline where Enterprise was stranded in 2037, Tucker married T'Pol in a traditional Vulcan ceremony. Afterward, they honeymooned in Cargo Bay 3. They had a son named Lorian, but Tucker died when Lorian was only 14 years old. (ENT: "")

Legacy[]

The Tucker Memorial Building in San Francisco was named after Tucker. It housed the offices of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers in the 24th century. (SCE novel: The Future Begins)
