The Cochrane Institute of Alpha Centauri (often referred to as the Cochrane Institute) was an institution of research and tertiary education, founded in the Alpha Centauri system and named after Zefram Cochrane. The bulk of the research and development there focused on various means of faster-than-light propulsion, transporter technology, and starship design. The Institute was part of the University of Alpha Centauri. (Starship Deimos)
- The Institute's connection to the Cochrane Foundation for the Study of Multiphysics was unclear. That may have been the Institute's name in at least one alternate timeline. (TOS novel: Federation)
Sian Gabriel received her Ph.D. at the Institute, and taught in the theoretical physics department until 2289. (Starship Deimos)
