Dylan O'Connor, the Irish signatory of the 0L Pledge for European Law School Transparency, attended Cogley Law School prior to serving onboard Unity Three Starbase. In addition, Cogley Law School set aside about one-half the seats for servicemembers in active Starfleet service and the second half for civilian applicants. One lawyer practicing at Hutz, Sanchez & Van Phuoc was a top-15% Cogley Law graduate.
It placed well in military jurisdictions, but its reputation in civilian jurisdictions left much to be desired. (Star Trek: False Vacuum: "Pledge of the Protester")
Civilian Cogley Law students spent 1L summer in basic combat training, and for the second half of 1L summer, Cogley Law students could choose one specialty. Because of the combat training, many top civilian students avoid applying at Cogley Law altogether. Despite the combat training, life at Cogley Law was otherwise comparable to life at elite civilian law schools. Dunames Lopez ended up becoming a professor at Cogley Law by 2420.
