The D'gerok class was a type of assault gunship that saw service in the Romulan Star Empire during the 24th century. The class entered service in 2364. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 5: Starships of the Romulan Star Empire; The Dominion War Sourcebook: The Fires of Armageddon)
An unusual design, the class was designed by an engineer who studied Cardassian shipbuilding philosophies. The ship features embedded warp nacelles that does make it slow but it has a stronger shield envelop. The command hull has a roughly diamond-shaped dorsal profile is connected directly to its rectangular main hull, which is larger and broader at the front than the back. In 2371, the class were retrofitted with ablative armor.
The primary mission profile for the class is to assault stationary targets such as space stations and planets hence its favoring of heavy firepower and protection over speed and maneuverability. Moving targets can find it easy to outmaneuver D'geroks necessitating that they are accompanied by swifter Romulans vessels.
