Deep Space 17 was a Federation Starfleet starbase in service during the 24th century. Located in the Ithassa Region, it orbits the neutron star Eratis. Although originally commissioned in 2312, the station has twice been abandoned; it was most recently reactivated in 2381.

During the Gorn conflict in 2383, a key battle took place in the vicinity of the station. The USS Independence and USS First Response were amongst the vessels destroyed before a ceasefire could be called. (UFOP: StarBase 118)

The runabout USS Severn was assigned to Deep Space 17 in 2382. The station also serves as the center of Starfleet operations in the region, as a home port for Task Force Discovery. (UFOP: StarBase 118)
