Di Renjie was an an enigmatic Bodhisattva (Buddhist saint) from an unknown extradimensional plane who served in Starfleet in the 24th century. (Star Trek: USS al-Qazwini‎)

Origins[]

Di incarnated on Earth more than 3000 years ago, and he has lived among amongst humans since then. He appears as a Chinese man with some extraordinary abilities (like longevity, his wisdom in all earthly matters based on living since millennia, deep scientific knowledge, expertise in advanced martial arts, he is a talented pilot, etc.). His most visible difference from other humans are his eyes: the iris is a perfect square. Legends say, that he is the same Di Renjie, who lived in the time of Wu Zeitan, the first (and only) Buddhist Empress of China. He was working as minister, court investigator, pilgrim, martial arts master, monk, slave, pirate-captain, etc. in various Asian countries through the ages.

Starfleet Career[]

Di Renjie contributed his knowledge to humanity's achievements in space faring since the 21 century. He was founding member of Starfleet, but he wanted to sustain a low profile, he has the rank of commander since centuries. Before arriving to the al-Qazwini, he was working on a project involving the Valkyrie-class fighters and the Typhon-class carriers, he trained and commanded cadets to perform exceptionally in combat situations. In 2375, Di was first officer of the USS al-Qazwini with rank commander.

Relationships[]

Di is an old, trusted friend of Nyota Uhura. He was sent as a fail-safe to the ship, because the shapechanging captain, Martia lacks the trust of Uhura. Contrary to his extradimensional origin, he is more human, than many of his colleges, he has a fond relationship with the crew of the al-Qazwini.
