Donald Hutchby

Donald Hutchby was a junior science officer aboard the USS Horizon (NCC-91901) since 2383. (Star Trek: Far Horizons)

Childhood

As a child Hutchby was nicknamed Hutch by friends. The nickname stuck and everyone still refers to him as such.

Academy years

When Hutchby attended the Academy he soon found himself worrying over the slightest fever. While at the Academy Infirmary he was diagnosis with hypochondriasis. ("Jump")

Starfleet years

After graduating from the Academy, Hutchby was assigned to Jupiter Station. Sometime during his assignment aboard Jupiter Station, Hutch took a vacation to Dreelu IV where, he claimed, he caught a cold from an anomaly. ("Stranded")

Assigned to Horizon Project

In 2382, Hutchby was one of the science officers who worked from Jupiter Station with the Jupiter Shipyards during the construction of the Emperor-class starships.

In 2383, Lieutenant Commander Lipton asked for Hutchby to placed on the crew of the USS Horizon.

Stranded

While aboard the USS Horizon, Hutch, along with the rest of the crew, became lost in an unknown part of space when the Horizon had to make a jump while under attack from Breen forces. After a series of uncontrolled jumps, as a result of the damage from the Breen attack and some unusual anomalies, the Horizon appeared in the Treelan system, where the crew met a hospitable race. Conglomeration attack

While on PM45, Hutch, Kelly Saunders, and Johann Astian, along with three other crewmen, were abducted by a hive ship of the Avkon Conglomeration. While in the holding cell, Hutch freaks out, believing that he will become sick from the ship, which was made up of biological material. His hypochondria eventually saved the day when it was discovered that he had a hypospray in his pocket. Saunders was able to use the hypospray to make the fleshy membrane blocking the door to become "sick". ("Conglomeration")

Safe harbor

Along with the rest of the crew, Hutch believed that they found a safe harbor when they encountered a mobile space station known as Sanctuary Outpost. ("Sanctuary")
