The Durance was a class of United Earth Stellar Navy (and later United Earth Starfleet and, briefly, Federation Star Fleet) transport in service during the mid-22nd century. The ships had additional roles, including combat and scientific surveys, depending upon the subclass.
The standard crew complement for the original class was 3 officers and 37 enlisted, with a capacity to host 10 passengers. The ships' endurance was 4.5 years. (Star Fleet Starship Recognition Manual: Report #293: Durance Transport)
Nomenclature[]
The class name, and that of the lead ship and prototype, were after the Durance, a river in France, on Earth.
Background (Delta Dynamics)[]
Primary inspiration for the Delta Dynamics' version of the Durance class came from Starship Aurora's Todd Guenther, with additional inspiration from Timo Saloniemi's Hobbyist's Guide to the UFP Starfleet.
