Durtlhor was one of three Klingon brothers who served as Matan's top lieutenants among the Solarii in the early 25th Century. (Star Trek Online: Valkyries)

History[]

Origins[]

Durtlhor and his brothers crashed on the planet Yamatai in the Dragon's Head Nebula in late 2386. He was the second-oldest of the three brothers, younger than Vamdar, but older than Nikora. Matan privately described them in his logs at the time as "broken in the storms" and "strong of body and weak of will." He rescued them and they became the founding members of the Solarii Brotherhood. They also became the second highest leadership in the cult after Matan himself. Among their privileges was the right to keep and use modern weapons without special permission from Matan. Despite having this permission, Durtlhor chose to instead use an ancient Japanese longbow, a yumi, as his weapon of choice. This was because he'd acquired the yumi by killing its original owner, a member of the fearsome Oni, who were immune to most of the modern weapons the Solarii possessed. The weapon held great significance to him.

Durtlhor was notably less ruthless than than either of his siblings, with no reputation for killing other members of the Solarii who got in his way.

Death[]

In 2407, Durtlhor killed Lieutenant-Commander Rejes Joslin during her escape attempt. He subsequently participated in Matan's plot to use Lieutenant Sam Hayashi to lure the other Starfleet crash survivors into a remote canyon where they could be captured. In the course of this plot, he allowed Sam to escape with his yumi, something which upset him. Two teams of Solarii were assembled to take part in the ambush, and Durtlhor was ordered to lead a third team to reinforce the others if they came under attack.

After the ambush failed and Sam was recaptured, Durtlhor attended the Ritual of Fire where she was to be burned alive. When Lieutenant Carlin Agran attempted to stop the ritual, Durtlhor and his brother captured and brutally beat her in revenge for the death of their elder brother Vamdar at her hands. He insisted on taking her to the place where Vamdar had died to execute her there, but Nikora objected to this and insulted Durtlhor. During the ensuing fight, Carlin fell into a chasm and escaped into the Pit. While Nikora was ready to declare her dead after the fall, Durtlhor insisted on sending a search party down into the Pit to make sure she was dead.

Thereafter Durtlhor was assigned to personally guard Sam and make sure she did not escape. Sam succeeded in goading him into turning his back on her and paying more attention to the threat of Carlin coming to rescue Sam than Sam herself escaping. Sam then managed to break free of her bonds and killed Durtlhor. ("Survivors of Yamatai")
