Edgar Mathias

Edgar "Eddie" Mathias, M.D. was a Starfleet medical officer on active duty in the late 23rd and early 24th centuries. He was a native of Alpha Centauri VII. (Project Potemkin, Starship Tristan)

Dr. Mathias, a lieutenant, was a medical officer on the Constitution-class heavy cruiser USS Potemkin from 2296 to 2299, eventually becoming assistant chief medical officer. (Project Potemkin: "The Last Child", "The Talinar Incident", "Room Service")

After Potemkin was destroyed in a battle with Romulan forces, Dr. Mathias and other surviving officers and crew transferred to the Constellation-class cruiser USS Tristan where he was assistant chief medical officer under Dr. Skep Anderson. (Starship Tristan: "Between Two Worlds", "Departures")

Dr. Matthias died while on an away mission to Morada III. ("Departures", "Pride and Prejudice")

Dr. Mathias is alluded to, though does not appear, in "Pride and Prejudice".

Family life

Edgar Mathias was born to a second-generation colonial family. Orphaned at the age of seven, he spent his teenage years in a hedonistic lifestyle under various guardians. He later attended St. Trinian's Medical School on Alpha Centauri VII.

It is presumed that Dr. Mathias undertook accelerated Starfleet training to serve on starships after a civilian medical school.

Friendships

Dr. Mathias was close with T'Noshi and Branwyn Asherah, with whom he had transferred from Potemkin to Tristan. (Project Potemkin: "Room Service") His death affected each of them greatly. ("Departures")
