Planet: | various craftworlds |
The Eldar were a humanoid species that existed in a possible far future. There is evidence that they were the descendants of the Romulans. The sensors aboard the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) read the Eldar as Romulan but slightly crystalline.
Due to a major crisis in their past, the Eldar no longer have a home planet but instead roam around the Milky Way in craftwords, huge starships that serve as mobile planets. One such craftworld was Biel-Tan. Another was the Black Library, a huge archive guarded by the fearsome Harlequins. As a 'xenos' race, the Eldar were officially enemies of the Imperium of Man, but the Imperium and the craftworlds frequently worked together. One of the problems the Eldar create for the Imperium is that Vulcans are sometimes mistaken for Eldar and attacked.
To avoid the worse effects of the major crisis, the Eldar seek perfection in various skills. One such Path is that of the Warrior. For example, Warp Spiders specialise in fast attack, Striking Scorpions focus on close combat, and Dire Avengers specialise in heavy ranged support. Some Eldar become too committed to their path and become Exarchs.
Other Eldar become Farseers and gain the ability to see possible futures. They then act to either encourage or avoid the scenarios they see. For example, Biel-Tan saw the forces of Chaos capture two derelict starships using Chaos Space Marines. To avoid one of the most dangerous powers in the galaxy gaining control of the USS Miranda and Enterprise (NX-01), the Eldar pulled the USS Enterprise into the future, knowing that the Imperium would rescue its crew and that the crew would be able to restore the derelicts and hand them over to the Imperium. To avoid temporal paradoxes, the Eldar duplicated the Enterprise in such a way that it was impossible to tell which was the original and which was the duplicate. One starship carried on to Vulcan to pick up Ambassador Sarek whilst the other was rescued by the Blood Ravens Space Marines. The Eldar sent various people to guide the crew, such as an infiltrator who caused trouble on Reolaz III. Finally, the Eldar assisted the Starfleet and Imperial task force sent to the derelicts by deploying Biel-Tan itself to the battlefield and sending warriors to assist. (38589 Years Difference)
