The Enterprise (II) subclass of Constitution-class heavy cruisers debuted in 2286. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Ships of the Star Fleet, vol. 1 [revised])
The following four starships of this class were refits — USS Excalibur, USS Exeter, USS Farragut and USS Lexington. A fifth, USS Enterprise-A, was refit from another Constitution-class heavy cruiser and was a successor to the destroyed USS Enterprise.
There were at least seven new-build starships of this class, including: USS Alliance, USS America, USS Levant, USS Raritan, USS Scipion, USS Temeraire and USS Ticonderoga.
