Stiles commanded the Pulsar-class starship USS Skyview, the first starship to attempt to survey the Perseus Arm. The Skyview apparently vanished in 2301, after Stiles transmitted a message that the ship was about to survey the Heleus Nebula. (Chronicle)

Captain Stiles was a member of an illustrious Starfleet family whose fame went back to the Earth-Romulan War. ("To Strive, To Seek, To Find") She had a namesake ancestor, Lieutenant Esther Stiles, who was an armory officer on the NX-class starship USS Endeavor and one of many Stiles family casualties during the war.
