The Federation-Klingon War of 2256-2257 was a conflict between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire from 2256 to 2257. It began with the Battle of the Binary Stars. - This conflict may exist instead of the Four Years War posited by FASA and various fan continuities.
Klingon Chancellor L'Rell introduced the D7-class battlecruiser in 2257. (DIS: "Point of Light")
The USS Enterprise was strongly advised to stay away from the front lines of the conflict, since Starfleet was concerned about its Constitution-class ships. (Star Trek: Discovery novel: The Enterprise War)
