Robert Tacket

Robert James Tacket (R.T. to his friends) was the executive officer and chief science officer on the USS Farragut. (Starship Farragut)

Early life and career

Tacket previously served on the USS Potemkin, various science vessels, and freighters.

The Farragut missions

This wise senior member of the Captain’s staff is a highly proficient science officer. Capt Jack Carter and R.T. served together on numerous missions where Carter used to report to Tacket. Carter selected R.T. as his First Officer when he was given command of the USS Farragut (NCC-1647).

Tacket was later promoted to captain and departed Farragut to take command of the USS Constitution (NCC-1700). (FAR: "The Crossing")

There is an admiral in the Project Potemkin episode Ladies' Night Out -- set in 2298 -- who resembles Tacket, but he is not identified as him.

Family and personal life

R.T. is the oldest male of four children. He is fascinated by all sciences and believes that a harmonious relationship exists between science and the spiritual realm (metaphysics).

Relationships

Commander Tacket has an obvious history with Mike Smithfield that is more than platonic. This is alluded to in the pilot episode. He is the captain’s wisest friend and confidant.
