Rachel Wood was a cadet aboard the USS Grissom (NCC-638) in 2285. She was assigned to the Transporter room for this particular tour of duty and was working directly under the supervision of Commander Stephanie Ottair. Whilst on an away mission to Pacifica under the command of Lieutenant Rebecca Sato, Wood was killed by the Chameloid spy Na'nnerd who took her form and place to infiltrate the Grissom's mission to Genesis. Na'nnerd was in the employ of the Klingon Empire. (Star Trek: Grissom) The Chameloid Na'nnerd who had impersonated Wood was believed to be among those killed when the Grissom was destroyed in 2285 by a Klingon Bird-of-Prey.
