Star Trek Expanded Universe

OK...I just got an article started on the Cardassians, but I think it needs some help with organization and sourcing. I also am not sure how much to put in regarding specific history, so I haven't completed that section yet.

I tried to keep Star Trek: Sigils and Unions-specific material to a minimum, considering I could write books off of my original material...what I put in there is (for the most part) backed up by other sources.

One question regarding Star Trek: Sigils and Unions material--as some of the more detailed stuff comes up, should I just create articles for it (such as "Regions of Cardassia," the language article, and more detailed stuff on the customs and history) and link them to the main article? How can I put that stuff up without people taking it as anything more than one continuity's view?

I can't claim to be authoritative, but I think you'll be OK so long as each statement (or paragraph, or whatever) is tagged with a source. My preference is for sources that are part of a story (or film, episode, etc.). What I mean is, it's all too easy to write pile of background details on a web site somewhere and add it to an article on STEU. It's much more stylish wait until your have a story in which some province is mentioned and then cite that. And I guess the way to make it feel less like one continuity's point of view is to seek out other Cardasian enthusiasts and discuss sharing province names etc. --Leckford 01:02, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
There's some stuff I remember being from the show but can't for the life of me remember a source on. I'd definitely appreciate others' eyes on the article to check for that kind of stuff.
When it comes to Star Trek: Sigils and Unions, my goal is to do for the Cardassians what Diane Duane did for the Romulans and John Ford for the Klingons before canon overrode them. Not to say I will ever reach their caliber of writing or creativity, but that's the extent of what I'm trying to do. I'm not sure how well I could mesh that with others' work. The only other person I ever knew of who was a Cardassian enthusiast to the degree I am was Victoria Meredith--and I think she pulled her contributions offline a few years ago (unless you REALLY do some digging). Do you guys know of anyone else? (Even so...I don't know how well my work will mesh with others.) Would the best solution be to sequester my material to series-specific articles in most cases?
