The God of Evacuation was an Hydran god worshiped from 2280 onwards. In 2387, it was one of the most prominent gods in the Hydran pantheon. It was the Hydran patron god of evacuations. The Cult of Evacuation was one of the major kingdom-wide cults.
Overview[]
The Hydran Kingdom seemed to hold in great esteem captains who were capable of pushing a starship's evacuation envelope to evacuate the greatest amount of people in a single run. The priests of the God of Evacuation (which could hold a variety of names, depending on its worshipers) were often officers (usually command-level officers), or relatives thereof, who distinguished themselves in evacuation actions.
Annika Hansen became the High Priestess of the God of Evacuation after the events of Gogmagog, as well as the first non-Hydran to serve in this capacity. To serve as a priest of the God of Evacuation was one of the highest religious honors of the Hydran Kingdom. The High Priest(ess) of the God of Evacuation was known among Hydrans as being the person who best pushed the evacuation envelope of starships. (RIS Bouteina: "High Priestess of Evacuation")
As with all high priests of major kingdom-wide cults, the High Priest/ess of Evacuation was entitled to be styled His/Her Eminence for life, even after resignation. (RIS Bouteina: "Forlorn Hope")
Rites[]
One of the most important rites in the Cult of Evacuation was to burn incense before an action where there may be a danger of having to evacuate the staging area, or before an evacuation action, and bow three times with the incense in the hands, then pot the incense (or, if potting incense was impossible, blowing the flame off the incense) (RIS Bouteina: "High Priestess of Evacuation")
Beliefs[]
Hydran starship designers believed that, to appease the God of Evacuation, they had to design a ship with the largest maximum evacuation capacity that the hull could afford. Evacuation cultists said that attempting to design a ship with a subpar MEC for its habitable volume would incur the wrath of the God of Evacuation. The Cult of Evacuation provided many chaplains to Hydran shipyards and their design divisions, as well as search and rescue units. (RIS Bouteina: "High Priestess of Evacuation")
Each ship directly under the control of the Cult of Evacuation had several priests among its crew, known as Reverends. (RIS Bouteina: "Hystelic Kingdom")
Priests[]
More priests existed but no names were given into the text.
