The Gorn are a reptilian humanoid species. The Gorn nation-state is known as the Gorn Hegemony.
History and culture[]
The Gorn society consists of 3 castes, the military caste, the worker caste and the caste of scientists. (Star Trek: Unity One)
The Gorn had contact with the Orions as early as 2154, when Orion pirateer Harrad-Sar claimed to Jonathan Archer that they brewed "the finest Meridor in the five systems". (ENT: "Bound")
Official first contact with the Federation came in 2267, under hostile circumstances, when a Gorn ship attacked a Federation colony on Cestus III. (TOS: "Arena"; TNG novel: Requiem) By the late 24th century, however, the two powers had full, amicable political relations.
- In the TOS novel: Dreadnought!, set ca. 2270, at least one Gorn had joined Starfleet. The Gorn had joined the Federation in 2285, per Orion Press continuity.

- In the Pendragon timeline, the Gorn launched a sneak attack against Starbase 11 in September, 2375. This incident sparked the Federation-Gorn Conflict, a war that lasted thirteen months, until the Gorn surrender. (Star Trek: Pendragon)
