The award given to Jean-Luc Picard

The Grankite Order of Tactics was an award given to Federation military officers for quick thinking in the middle of battle and devising a maneuver that results in either victory or successful escape.

Captains James T. Kirk and Jean-Luc Picard were both awarded the Grankite Order of Tactics, the latter for the Picard Maneuver. (TOS: "Court Martial"; TNG: "The Battle"; Star Trek Generations)

Timothy Sinclair received the Grankite Order of Tactics in 2368 for tactics he devised during the Magna Roma mission. (Star Trek: Pendragon: "Honor of the Sword", "Dragon's Gambit")

Logan MacLeod was awarded the Grankite Order of Tactics in December 2374 for devising the "MacLeod Maneuver" during the First Battle of Chin'toka. (Star Trek: Prometheus)

Andrea Riffin received the award in May 2375 (USS Baldwin: "Storm Front") for devising a maneuver in which the USS Ottawa approached a Jem'Hadar swarm with Andrea's ship, the USS Nimitz, trailing. Ottawa then separated, with its three sections spreading out while Nimitz proceeded straight ahead. (USS Baldwin: "Captain's View")

Admiral Hayes awarded both Jonathan Hunt and Dranzian Chavin the Grankite Order of Tactics on stardate 57755.5 for their actions: Flying a Peregrine-class fighter in defense of the heavily damaged USS Beliskner, when Chavin devised a tactic which played the Romulans' own untrained kamikaze crews against them, destroying a Romulan warbird. (Star Trek: New Order)

Breawyn Lem was inducted into the Grankite Order of Tactics (Class of Excellence) in late 2381 for the three-way standoff between her starship and Breen and Species 8472 ships in fluidic space. She used remotely controlled shuttles and unactivated torpedo pods to augment her single ship's firepower, in a manner reminiscent of Earth's Second World War's Japanese "torpedo destroyer" tactics. (Starship Independence: "Sic Semper Tyrannis")
