The Hercules-class starship was a type of Federation cruiser created by Starfleet in 2174.
Seventeen of these were built, each with a crew of 188. The vessels measured 1 deck in height, 167 meters in length, had a maximum cruising speed of warp 4. They were originally armed with plasma cannons, but were later uprated with phaser banks.
By the 2220s, the ships were outgunned and underpowered for roles as cruisers, but many were reconditioned to serve as tenders and other support vessels. Ships were in service until at least 2275 (Ex Astris Scientia)
