"History is not Legendary" was a forum written short story covering the distant past of the Klingon Empire in the continuity of The War of the Masters on the Star Trek Online fan-forums.
The tack and direction of that story being that the 'accepted legends' of the Klingon Empire, its founding, and its 'story' have only tangential relation to factual events, and mostly centers on the first REAL 'first contact' experience of the Klingon people, and how that may have influenced the ways in which their culture evolved and transformed to make them the Klingons as we know them in both canon Star Trek universe, and most Fan Fictions of the Star Trek universe.
Notably, the direction taken was in part to 'De-Kzintify' the Klingons.
It also forms something of a philosophical backbone for the Klingons as portrayed in the entirety of the "War of the Masters" fanfiction setting, including providing some context for the ideas of major characters such as K'Ragh.
The central conceit of the story, is that the Klingon Empire is quite old, and was shaped by experiences that neighboring cultures did not endure, including being driven close to extinction and having to fight an existential war that lasted for generations.
