The Horizon class of heavy cruisers were Federation starships commissioned in the late-22nd century, with several variants operating up into the mid-23rd century and up until 2297.

In the original (2193) class, standard crew complement was 35 officers and 278 enlisted. Endurance for ships of this class was four years. A total of 7 additional variants would follow, five of which were categorized as battle cruisers. Design elements of the final two variants would be adopted for the Constitution class heavy cruiser design. Background[]

Primary inspiration for the Delta Dynamics' version of the Horizon class and its variants came from Timo Saloniemi's Hobbyist's Guide to the UFP Starfleet, while the ship's design origin lies with Star Trek Spaceflight Chronology and the Yorktown-class from the Star Trek: Legacy video game.
