The Hornet-class strike fighter is a space-superiority fighter craft used by the Starfleet Marine Corps embarked aboard the starship USS Dauntless. (Star Trek: Dauntless)
Design[]
The Hornet-class fighter is a single-pilot fighter craft designed to be highly maneuverable in both atmosphere and space. It is propelled by two micro-fusion impulse engines for sublight speed with micro-warp drive for short range FTL capability. It is not designed for long-range autonomous missions and must be embarked aboard a larger support or mother craft, generally a starship or carrier. They are capable of speeds up to warp 8 for up to 45 minutes.
Weapons[]
Designed to fill the role of space-superiority fighter, the Hornet class is equipped with forward mounted phaser banks and a single micro-torpedo launcher. The craft is also fully shielded, allowing it to re-enter atmosphere from orbit in pursuit of an objective.
