In the mirror universe, the ISS Avenger (NX-09) was a Terran Empire NX-class starship built at the Antares Ship Yards. In 2155 it was commanded by Admiral Black.
After been rescued by the USS Defiant following a rebel attack Black was executed on the orders of Commander Jonathan Archer and all human officers were transferred to the Defiant while all alien crew on the Defiant were transferred to the Avenger. Soval took command of the Avenger and attacked the sabotaged Defiant. The saboteur was discovered and killed and Commander Charles Tucker managed to reactivate the disabled system. The Defiant was then easily able to deal with the less advanced Avenger, destroying it and killing all on board. (ENT: "In a Mirror Darkly, Part II")
A late-24th century Starfleet vessel was named after the Avenger. (Star Trek: New Empire)
