Ilse Andwipani Giordano (2273-2311) was a Starfleet officer active in the 23rd and 24th centuries.
Giordano was born in 2273 to Ilana Giordano and an officer for United Earth Intelligence, who was kept unaware of the child's existence. Ilana had been a consultant to the agency, and she and the agent had had a brief affair. (Star Trek: Shadowstar Station: "Angle and Complement")
The younger Giordano -- by then a member of the Starfleet Academy class of 2295 -- would not reveal her identity to her father until they met at Starbase 29 in 2293. (Star Trek: Shadowstar Station: "Heritage")
Ilse Giordano graduated from the Academy summa cum laude and was posted to the USS Jemison as a tactical specialist. She moved up quickly through the ranks and was assigned to USS Diponegoro where she was second officer with the rank of lieutenant commander. By 2300, she was the ship's exec.
Starfleet held a tactical simulation, Exercise Vermilion Victorious, on the surface of Beta Miranda V in early 2301. Among the ships and stations who sent teams to participate were Ajax, Diponegoro, Fearless, Pandora, Shadowstar Station, Starbase 10 and T’Varian.
Ilse Giordano had two children, each by a different father. One was Dana (b. 2303) and the other Matthew (b. 2309). (Star Trek: Shadowstar Station: "Mother's Day" flashback)
In 2308, while patrolling the disputed Federation-Tholian border, a task force that included Diponegoro was engaged by a squadron of Tholian vessels. The lead vessel of the task force was destroyed and another ship disabled. Among the casualties was Diponegoro 's Captain Schieman; Commander Giordano took command. The Tholian squadron was heavily damaged with only one ship managing to return to its homespace. Upon return to Starbase 10, Giordano was granted permanent command of the destroyer.
Diponegoro was among the many Federation vessels destroyed during the Tomed Incident.
